Pyrenees Mountains- The Pyrenees mountain is a border of sorts between France and Spain. It runs for 305 miles. There’s an absence of great lakes causing for little soil to be fertile and fish too not be a main source of food. In the mountains iron is a valuable resource that was mined for many years. This affects the lives of those around it because for many years France and Spain were very much separated. They didn’t have a way to communicate, they lacked the materials to venture over the Pyrenees.
Iberian Peninsula-The Iberian peninsula is 224,711 square miles, it's located in the southwest corner of Europe. This peninsula, now known as Portugal and Spain, is the third largest in all of Europe. The counties of Andorra and a small part of France border it from the northeast. This area is mostly mountains making it so communication was hard. No one had the proper resources to explore them, or on the other side of them. The land in the Iberian peninsula is at its closest, only five miles from the continent of Africa, meaning that it was easier to trade with the natives from their then the French. Because Portugal was surrounded by water except for Spain they had lots of ships for wars and exploration this led to them being some of the first Europeans on American soil.
